5 things I need to work on to get better

Mr.B wants me to have 7 sentences with 7 words in it he says this one doesn't count. I need to stop guessing and actually figure out the problem. Another one is pay attention and try not to forget things so fast. A way i could stop that is taking better notes. I also need to work on my writing. I don't like it if you couldn't tell. Another thing is using a pencil and paper to write out my work. Another thing i could work on is not teasing Mr.B for getting an iPhone 4 right when the iPhone 5 is coming out.

Add Op Property of Subtracting

Integers have been kicking my butt all summer. Then Mr.B as a desperate attempt to save me he showed me this method this was the first time I heard it when I was listening. He claims that he has showed me this method numerous times. I still won't believe him. If you have a problem like 18- (-24) you change the problem to an addition problem so it would be then 18+24=42 That easy!

Soccer Stats

Soccer stats my math teacher made me do. I like soccer just not math. I think these 5 players are the top players in the world. Some stats show otherwise.

Part vs. Whole

Today we talked about statistics and averages. The formula is part divided by whole. What is the chance of two options and me dividing whole divided part 100%.

This involves everything like baseball, soccer, football, and Basketball. The batting average for victor martinez is H/AB= BA

Now im going to the carnival!

Gear Ratios

Are everywhere says Mr. B. I just don't look. Gear Ratios come in forms of bikes, cars, and boat a part of everyday life. My bike has 26 Inch wheels and a back sprocket of 14 teeth and a front sprocket of 50 teeth

See?
What That Means is every time you  turn the pedal 1 full time around the wheel moves 3.57 times around. Which for my bike would be about 24 feet.  In my easiest gear to pedal i would only go 1/4 th the distance. See mom i do think and work while i'm  over here. My Homework is to play the integer game with you and dad.

Don't Do Math When your Tired!

Today Mr. B and I reviewed subtracting and adding integers. F-A-I-L! Epic one too. I started getting back on track after a while but still a fail.  Then we did linear equations and that was a bit better but hey don't do math when your tired.

Then we tried to solve proportions, i noticed that they all turned out to be one step equations, which reminded me (Mr. B did) about inverse operations. We compared our shoes and Mr.B's were 12 inches in length, mine were 10. Mr. B was our proportion and we did

That's how ninja i am at solving proportions!!

How and why the coast guard festival started

The festival unofficially began in 1924 as a Coast Guard personnel only picnic when the local Coast Guard station held rowing competitions for those service members stationed in Grand Haven. The first festival began in 1937 and ever since we have honored our coast guard. Why we have it to honor the brave coast guard men and woman for there services? What do they do their now?  They have free rides and a carnival shows up just for us also don't forget the killer fireworks.Don't forget the ninja parade. We still honor the brave men and women that defend and protect our land, water, and air.

How to solve a two step equation

A two-step equation is as straightforward as it sounds. You will need to perform two steps in order to solve the equation. To solve a two step equation there are two important steps always use the inverse operation. (An operation that reverses the effect of another operation.)The second Treat the two sides equally just like kids. Up at the top with the picture i added 12 to both sides and -12 + 12 = 0 and 18+12= 30 then i divided both sides by 3 and got y for 3y/3. After i divided 30 by 3 i got 10 then gave me the solution y = 10

Function tables to equations

Function tables to equations was a fail for me at first. Than Mr. B showed me and I had it down perfect after that. Functions tables tables and equations work together to make your life harder. When you notice the y growth that is the number you multiply by the x. Otherwise known as the x coefficient. The number you add or subtract is the y intercept.

y = 3x + 4

4 is the y intercept
3 is the x coefficient

Why and How the Vietnam war started.

Us Americans were trying to stop the spread of communism and they helped south Vietnam because the US thought they were the last chance to stop communism so they helped and helped and helped and eventually they were sucked into the war and they couldn't get out of the war. Communist tensions started right after WWII. The US was committed to stop the spread of communism. All leading to 1965 when we became fully involved in the war.

Why did they name the x and y axis their names?

The choices of letters come from the original convention, which is to use the latter part of the alphabet to indicate unknown values. The first part of the alphabet was used to designate known values. So that's how the axis got their names. I have to stop asking questions like this. Did you know that Linear Algebra doesn't involve planets? I just found that out.....

Subtracting Integers

Subtracting integers in not my thing "yet",says Mr. B. I don't think it will ever be but you never know. Today we practiced with the difference model of subtraction. It was hard doing all that in my head. Then Mr. B pulled out masking tape. All I thought was run! Then i  realized that it was for a number line and then he went and grabbed a two coins and one was the minuend and the second coin was the "subtrahend." The minuend is the first term and the subtrahend is the second term. I went from the subtrahend to the minuend to find out the difference. This my actually be my thing.

Who invented pointless algebra

Algebra was not invented by one person it was invented by different people over the centuries. One man named Muhammad ibn Musa ibn al-Khwarizmi in a book made around 820 A.D. Why did he do this?? He came up with the name but not the method. History with Babylonia's they were noted to use algebra back way back like Mr. B's time. The Babylonians knew how to deal with cubic and quadratic equations and some other basic concepts of algebra. The Egyptians were more into Linear Equations. Why would somebody or people do that to the world?!

What I'm doing this summer...

This summer i am tutoring with my 6th grade Math and English Language Arts teacher. This week we learned or went over adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. We also talked about starting a blog which i think i am right now. The last thing we talked about it is doing a report on Wonju, Korea. Which i am looking for information still and putting that together ti make a post of what I've learned about Wonju, Korea.
